SOUTH FLORIDA SPINY LOBSTER RULES AND REGULATIONS

The rules and regulations for catching Florida Spiny Lobster are set by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and apply to all individuals, including guests on a charter boat. Here are some important rules and regulations to keep in mind:

  1. License: All individuals who wish to catch Florida Spiny Lobster must have a valid recreational saltwater fishing license and lobster permit. (As a guest on our charter boat the licensing is provided.)

  3. Bag limits: The daily bag limit for Florida Spiny Lobster is six per person in Monroe County. Only six lobsters per person can be taken during the first two days of the mini-season.
  4. Season: The spiny lobster season runs annually from August 6th to March 31st.
  5. Regulations on eggs and molting: Female lobsters with eggs must be released immediately, and lobsters in the molting process must also be released as they are more vulnerable and need time to harden their new shell.
